大橙子与二英青梅竹马，在驾车回村途中不小心撞到了正在钓鱼的小峰。小峰追赶二英与大橙子，在回村途中巧遇也正驾车回村的二英表哥富尧。在一家人吃晚饭时，二英父亲拿出了传家宝作为二英嫁给大橙子的嫁妆，富尧作为一名考古专家，在看到传家宝之后，发现这是一个开启狼族遗迹的钥匙，于是在深夜，富尧偷偷潜入二英家，在熟睡的二英父亲身边盗走了传家宝。小峰把一切都看在眼里，于是抢走传家宝胁迫富尧带着他一起去冒险寻宝。清晨时分，醒来后的一家人发现传家宝被盗，又因为富尧是自己的亲戚，于是二英父亲决定带着二英与大橙子一起去寻找富尧和小峰。与此同时，铁钩子一行人也以寻找狼族遗迹为目的出发了，铁钩子为人阴险狡诈，在调查中知道了狼族遗迹中存在着一个面具，戴上面具，便会具有无限的力量，而考古学家富尧的身上有狼族遗迹的地图，于是铁钩子一行人也开始寻找富尧。富尧与小峰按地图所示逐渐的接近狼族遗迹。大橙子二英和二英父亲三人也来到了狼族遗迹附近的一个村庄，他们在村庄中的旅店住下，旅店的老板其实就是狼族遗迹的守护者。以开设旅馆为掩护，保护狼族遗迹。不明事情原委的3人就这样在旅店住下了，大橙子与二英父亲一路上磕磕绊绊，欢喜冤家一般纠缠，闹出许多糗事。可二英父亲始终觉得大橙子对二英图谋不轨，一路上戒心重重，设置障碍组织大橙子接近二英。可这时，就在3人在旅店安顿好以后，一系列惊险的事情一幕幕的顺势发生了。 考古学家富尧带着傻头傻脑的小峰来到事先安排好的洗浴中心，风姿妖娆的老板娘出现在小峰眼前。不知自己已经掉进陷阱的小峰，口水都要留出来了。迫不及待的要试试老板娘按摩的手法。而事先串通好了的情况下，准备对小峰下手找到藏在他身上的钥匙的时候，被小峰意外逃脱。 就在二英父亲在旅店的房间里生闷气的时候，一对热恋男女在隔壁开了房间，结果二英父亲以为是二英晚上偷偷跑去大橙子房间做坏事，气不打一处来。这时，只是去吃了夜宵的两人回到旅店，见到二英父亲不明缘由的两人，越解释越迷糊。二英遭到父亲的斥责后，甩门而出，回到房间委屈的趴在床上，没想到让前来旅店翻行李的铁钩子的手下瞄上，从而想趁机对二英下手。二英措手不及，拼命呼救不成。就在千钧一发之际，传说中的狼族现身，二英在受到惊吓的情况下昏迷被救。而铁钩子手下已经吓得屁滚尿流回去报信。良久，醒来的二英被存活于世的狼族吓到，这时进来的旅店老板，坦白了自己的身份，所有事情逐渐清晰。就在发现二英失踪的同时，大橙子被“前世的狼族”身份觉醒。一心着魔要救二英。大橙子的身世也似乎浮出水面。解救二英的途中，与铁钩子等人相遇。随即再进入狼族遗迹后，双方进行了激烈的争夺打斗。为争得传说中的狼族面具，双方死伤惨重。最终铁钩子拿到面具，过河拆桥、山洞被炸毁。铁钩子也得到了应该有的惩罚。经历了重重磨难和惊险的遭遇，大橙子更坚定了对二英的感情，二英父亲也从这件事看出了大橙子的真心，也放心的把二英交给大橙子。于是两人在故事的尾声部分，终于达成所愿，办了婚礼，两人幸福的在新婚之夜洞房花烛，可冥冥之中，又感觉故事才刚刚开始……

Somewhere in the remote region, the war ends. In the midst of ruined cities and houses in the streets, in rural hamlets, everywhere where people still live, are children who have lost their homes and parents. Abandoned, hungry, and in rags, defenseless and humiliated, they wander through the world. Hunger drives them. Little streams of orphans merge into a river which rushes forward and submerges everything in its path. The children do not know any feeling; they know only the world of their enemies. They fight, steal, struggle for a mouthful of food, and violence is merely a means to get it. A gang led by Cahoun finds a refuge in an abandoned castle and encounters an old composer who has voluntarily retired into solitude from a world of hatred, treason, and crime. How can they find a common ground, how can they become mutual friends The castle becomes their hiding place but possibly it will also be their first home which they may organize and must defend. But even for this, the price will be very high. To this simple story, the journalist, writer, poet, scriptwriter, movie director, and film theoretician Béla Balázs applied many years of experience. He and the director Géza Radványi created a work which opened a new postwar chapter in Hungarian film. Surprisingly, this film has not lost any of its impact over the years, especially on a profound philosophical level. That is to say, it is not merely a movie about war; it is not important in what location and in what period of time it takes place. It is a story outside of time about the joyless fate of children who pay dearly for the cruel war games of adults. At the time it was premiered, the movie was enthusiastically received by the critics. The main roles were taken by streetwise boys of a children's group who created their roles improvisationally in close contact with a few professional actors, and in the children's acting their own fresh experience of war's turmoil appears to be reflected. At the same time, their performance fits admirably into the mosaic of a very complex movie language. Balázs's influence revealed itself, above all, in the introductory sequences an air raid on an amusement park, seen in a montage of dramatic situations evoking the last spasms of war, where, undoubtedly, we discern the influence of classical Soviet cinematography. Shooting, the boy's escape, the locomotive's wheels, the shadows of soldiers with submachine guns, the sound of a whistle—the images are linked together in abrupt sequences in which varying shots and expressive sharp sounds are emphasized. A perfectly planned screenplay avoided all elements of sentimentality, time-worn stereotypes of wronged children, romanticism and cheap simplification. The authors succeeded in bridging the perilous dramatic abyss of the metamorphosis of a children's community. Their telling of the story (the scene of pillaging, the assault on the castle, etc) independently introduced some neorealist elements which, at that time, were being propagated in Italy by De Sica, Rossellini, and other film artists. The rebukes of contemporary critics, who called attention to formalism for its own sake have been forgotten. The masterly art of cameraman Barnabás Hegyi gives vitality to the poetic images. His angle shots of the children, his composition of scenes in the castle interior, are a living document of the times, and underline the atmosphere and the characters of the protagonists. The success of the picture was also enhanced by the musical art of composer Dénes Buday who, in tense situations, inserted the theme of the Marseilaise into the movie's structure, as a motive of community unification, as an expression of friendship and the possibility of understanding. Valahol Europaban is the first significant postwar Hungarian film. It originated in a relaxed atmosphere, replete with joy and euphoria, and it includes these elements in order to demonstrate the strength of humanism, tolerance, and friendship. It represents a general condemnation of war anywhere in the world, in any form.
